Grauwaart Utrecht

Grauwaart is an apartment complex located in Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht. The block is bordered by wide avenues and a park. A bicycle street runs through the location, which divides the block into two characteristic parts with varying angles. Different building heights respond to the adjacent urban space.

The houses on the ground floor have a front door at ground level. This gives the buildings a strong relationship with the street. The flower boxes and the private sidewalks with transverse gates provide a subtle transition from the privacy in the houses to the publicity of the street.

The facades are characterized by cantilevered balconies and deep-cut upright windows, which provide a massive appearance. The stately entrances are distinguished by their double height. The subdued color palette creates an abstract and serene whole.
