John Steinbeck’s Boyhood Home

John Steinbeck was one of the greatest writers ever. “The Grapes of Wrath”, “Of Mice and Men”, “East Of Eden”, “The Red Pony”, “Travels With Charley”, “Tortilla Flats” & many more. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature, Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and many other of the most prestigious writing awards. This beautiful old Victorian style house was where he grew up in Salinas, California. Some of the (1955) movie “East of Eden” (with James Dean playing Steinbeck as a young man) was filmed in and around this house. The house was added to the United States National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
