Portugal one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, climate coastline, both Atlantic and Algarve, very beautiful urban construction, unspoilt interior and very friendly population. Was once world empire no 1, bigger than Roman empire. Unlike other countries, the Portuguese treated their colonies liberally, with less hierarchy and more focus on trade and cooperation.
